Universal Orlando - In 2002, Waymond King teamed the Florida Lottery with Universal Orlando to boost sales, broaden the lottery's market base and drive traffic to Universal Orlando. The partnership was a "Win-Win" for all as the Universal Orlando-themed scratch-off game became one of the Florida Lottery's best-selling scratch-off tickets, and attendance in Universal Orlando substantially increased during the promotional period.
Play FLA USA - During his tenure with the Florida Lottery King launched a marketing effort to support Florida tourism following the September 11 terrorist attack. King's marketing skills were instrumental in the lottery joining forces with VISIT FLORIDA (Florida's official tourism agency) to produce the "Play FLA USA" scratch-off game. The game was designed to help sustain the state's tourism industry during the aftermath of September 11. King negotiated an arrangement that brought six of the major tourism/vacation entities in the state: Carnival Cruise Lines, Emerald Coast CVB, Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex, Miami Seaquarium, SeaWorld and Universal Orlando together to jointly support this initiative. In addition to generating more than $14 million in sales, the campaign received many accolades and was nominated for several national tourism industry awards.
